JOB SUMMARY:

Manage the banquet department to ensure smooth operations of hotel events. 

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Reports directly to the Assistant Food and Beverage Director.

• Ensures excellent communication between the kitchen and service teams. 

• Develops a strong relationship with guests to increase guest satisfaction. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Adhere to the hotel’s P&Ps

• Insures that the banquet team follow the hotel’s grooming standards and correct uniform is worn at all times. 

• Supervises all set-ups to ensure that it is done according the BEO, and on time.

• Ensures that the service sequence is followed according to the established standards.

• Responsible for the cleanliness of all banquet facilities and equipment.

• Attends to guests’ needs and requests regarding room set-up, audiovisual and food and beverage service.

• Sets and follows a detailed training plan for all banquet staff and casual labor. 

• Prepares a banquet cheque according to the BEO and actual consumption.

• Maintains a thorough knowledge of all menu items and all types of set-up

• Controls and ensures cleanliness and proper maintenance of banquet facilities and operating equipment.

• Attend to guests’ need in professional manner, going the extra mile to ensure satisfaction. 

• Forecasts usage of controllable items and requisitions accordingly. 

• Assists in setting up function rooms when required.

• Tests the audio visual prior to each function to ensure equipment is fully functional.  

• Liaises with engineering department and is responsible for the follow up of job orders in the banquet department, making sure all equipment is in good working condition.

• Forecasts all costs and recommends measures to control them.

• Liaises with housekeeping for linen related matters as well as cleanliness of all banquet area.

• Supports all other outlets with equipment and manpower when required. 

• Continually looks at latest food and beverage trends to create attractive set ups. 

• Ensures monthly equipment inventories take place and any discrepancies are investigated.
