Caravelle Saigon welcomes new voices in January, as two internationally acclaimed singers lend their magic and musicality to evenings at Café de l’Opera.
From the first of the month, vocalists Calyn Tsukishima from Japan and Dona Amelia from Indonesia will be joining pianist Jazonjazz, one of the most recognisable musicians in Ho Chi Minh City for evenings of live music at Caravelle’s ground-floor lounge. Soothing strains, light jazz and mellow tunes from the artists will round out the cosmopolitan atmosphere at Café de l’Opera every evening with the exception of Sundays.
Born in the Miyagi Prefecture, Calyn’s path as a singer and songwriter began with violin lessons at the age of four. By 2008, Calyn had added her name to the Japanese music scene, with eight singles and three albums. Calyn’s instinctive sense of rhythm and melody has led to collaborations with international producers and DJs, as well as leading Japanese musicians.
Also appearing at Café de l’Opera in 2017 is Dona Amelia, a model, singer and presenter from Banten, Indonesia. Her first album debuted in Indonesia in 2007, and she went on to win televised singing competitions before deciding to take her talents abroad in 2015. She’s since debuted two EDM singles, collaborated with British DJ Matt Caseli, and performed at Ho Chi Minh City’s top bars and music venues.
Performances begin at 6:00pm and run through Café de l’Opera’s extended Happy Hour: from 7:00pm to midnight, can patrons enjoy a special discount of 50% off their total beverage bill, excluding champagne and full bottles of wine and spirits.
Music lovers can catch Calyn Tsukishima at Caravelle on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays; Dona Amelia on Wednesdays, Fridays.
